Sometimes you don't need a week away. You need a few hours where nothing is asked of you; where someone else holds the plan, the pace, and the space, and all you have to do is arrive, be present, open and curious.
This is a day retreat designed entirely around you, on the beautiful island of Shapinsay. From the moment you step on the ferry, the day is yours: a journey through movement, cold water, breath, and nourishing food, guided one-to-one from start to finish.

How the day flows
Arrive - The 25-minute ferry crossing from Kirkwall, leaving at 9:45am, is where the retreat really begins. Watch the mainland recede, and Balfour castle come into sight with the seals basking on the rocks to welcome you with a curious and calm energy.
Move - Choose how you'd like to travel through the island: a gentle guided cycle or a slow walk along quiet roads and shoreline. This isn't exercise for its own sake, it's time to land, notice, and arrive in your body. (Bike hire included.)
Immerse - A guided sea dip in Shapinsay's clear, cool waters with breath support before and throughout. Cold water asks for your presence and provides a cleansing. If you prefer to be on the water, a double kayak well give you a different perspective of the island. (Conditions permitting — if the sea says no, the day flows on just as fully without it.)
Breathe - Once you're warm and dry, we will move into a Conscious Connected Breathwork session, tailored to whatever you're carrying and need to shift. No experience needed. Just you, your breath, and space to let something shift.
Nourish - A warming nutritious lunch with time to talk or enjoy silence.
Reflect - Before you leave, write a postcard to yourself: what you want to remember, what the experience showed you, something you want to carry forward. On the way back to the ferry, post it in the Shapinsay postbox. A memory waiting for you at home from the version of you who was here.
Return - You'll catch an afternoon ferry (3:15 or 4:45pm) back to Kirkwall with time and space to reflect on the experience.

Good to know
- A short questionnaire is required before booking, as breathwork and cold water immersion aren't suitable for everyone. We'll talk everything through on your pre-retreat call.
- Sea swimming is always optional and always weather-dependent. The day is complete with or without it.
- No fitness or experience requirements, the pace is yours.
- Shapinsay is reached by ferry from Kirkwall. We'll confirm your sailing times and meet you at the pier.
